Basic troubleshooting for Nextel


Issue: Download Apps is missing (Motorola iDEN phones)
Fix:

If you can't find Download Apps in the Java Apps sub-menu of your iDEN phone when installing TeleNav GPS Navigator for the first time or in order to re-install, please call Nextel customer support.

Issue: Unable to reach server or Unable to reach TeleNav server
Fix:

This error means that the application was not able to communicate with the server and can occur when your mobile device can't establish a data connection or if there is an issue with your data connection plan.

You can attempt to resolve data connection issues on your own by turning your mobile device off and then back on or by moving to a different area.

If the error persists, please contact Nextel customer support.

Issue: No GPS or GPS signal weak (Motorola iDEN phones)
Fix:

TeleNav GPS Navigator may display one of these errors when your phone cannot obtain a GPS reading.

Make sure your phone has a clear view of the sky and there are no nearby natural or man-made obstacles such as dense tree-cover or a really large building.

You can also perform a GPS Position refresh:

  1. From the main screen, press Menu
  2. Select GPS
  3. Select Position
  4. Press Refresh and wait.  It can take 3-5 minutes for the phone to obtain a reading.

If successful, you will see the current date and Greenwich Mean Time (all GPS receivers do this).

If the phone cannot obtain a current GPS reading after three attempts, please contact Nextel customer support.

If TeleNav GPS Navigator continues to report the error, please call TeleNav Customer Support at 888-353-6284.

Issue: No GPS or GPS signal weak (BlackBerry handhelds)
Fix:

TeleNav GPS Navigator may display one of these errors when your BlackBerry handheld cannot obtain a GPS reading.

Make sure your BlackBerry handheld has a clear view of the sky and there are no nearby natural or man-made obstacles such as dense tree-cover or a really large building.

You can also perform a Location Based Services GPS refresh:

  1. From the main screen, ccroll to OPTIONS (Wrench Icon) and click the trackwheel
  2. Scroll to LOCATION BASED SERVICES and click the trackwheel
  3. Verify that Privacy Setting is set to UNRESTRICTED
  4. Click on the trackwheel and select REFRESH GPS

 

If successful, you will see the current date and time.

If the BlackBerry handheld cannot obtain a current GPS reading after three attempts, please contact Nextel customer support.

If TeleNav GPS Navigator continues to report the error after the BlackBerry handheld was able to obtain a current GPS reading, please call TeleNav Customer Support at 888-353-6284.

Issue: Locate feature does not work (TeleNav GPS Navigator 3.6 or older)
Fix:

In order for the Locate feature of TeleNav GPS Navigator 3.6 or older to work, the phone of the person you would like to locate must also have the same application version installed and an active account.

Example: Elizabeth has a Motorola i830 with TeleNav GPS Navigator 3.6 and cannot Locate her friend, Melissa, because Melissa is using TeleNav GPS Navigator 4.0 on her BlackBerry handheld.

Please remember that the Locate feature is not available in TeleNav GPS Navigator 3.8 or 4.0 (version 4.0 is specifically for BlackBerry handhelds).
